2008-2009 District-Wide Project
On October
11, 2008 District Interactors voted to support the United Nations
refugee agency -
UNHCR. The agency is
mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee
problems worldwide. In more than five decades, the agency has helped
an estimated 50 million people restart their lives.
The agency only receives 3.5
percent of its funding from the UN, which is spent entirely on
administration costs. The remaining 96.5 percent comes from
voluntary contributions. More

district-wide projects have included
Heifer
International
and the
Kiva
microcredit
organization.
2008-2009 Special Project
District
Interactors will provide a Valentine’s Day Party for the residents
of the Mount St. Vincent Home in Denver. The clubs will help the
children do crafts, play games, and will provide lunch on February
14, 2009. Clubs from all over the district will participate.
