French writer Andre Gide pointed out One doesn't discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.”

For every membership chair the beginning of the Rotary year is when we look out to the horizon and away from the shore. The shore is where our membership achievements rest. The horizon is where we see our new member and member retention goals.
By now your club secretary will have submitted a corrected membership total to RI. If this task has been kept up, you won’t be surprised. Whether it was or not, you now have a real number to start with. A lot of attention will be paid this year to retention.  September 15th at the Club Training Assembly your Membership Team will have a guest speaker present on successful retention techniques.

For now, take your starting membership number, then please use the Membership Plan Template and make a plan. Call or email if you need help. 520.400.4966, membership@rotary5450.org. That’s what we’re here for.

Let’s set our sails and lose sight of shore to reach our new horizons.
