October 24 is World Polio Day!

Did you know that Friday, October 24th is World Polio Day.  What will you do to make a difference in our fight to eradicate Polio from the face of the Earth and fulfill a promise we made to the children of our world almost 30 years ago?   Here’s a great idea:  go to www.wgmeal.com and explore the possibilities.

On October 24th, invite some of your closest friends, Rotarians or NOT, and serve them a meal.  Ask them to give a donation (any amount) in recognition of your meal and tell them their donation will be matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and will be donated to the Rotary Polio Plus Fund. What a wonderful way to let others know about Rotary, to inform them of our promise made almost 30 years ago and where we are now in the quest to end Polio.

This idea comes from two Rotarians a world apart and has raised, with the match, almost 1 million dollars for the Polio Plus Fund. Won’t you all please join Mary Jean and me as we all together work to make our pledge come true!

If you decide to hold this dinner, Please keep track of how many people you hosted and how much money you raised. Please let me know those figures so our District can report that amount. Make the donation to the Polio Plus Fund in the name of your club so you get credit towards your club’s Polio Plus goal!

Together let us all have a great meal on World Polio Day and Make a Difference for the Children of the World!!
