Membership Mantra: We’re All In This Together

At the beginning of May I attended my corporate convention in New Orleans. This was the 11th consecutive convention for me.  I looked forward to seeing longtime colleagues, nurturing the relationships with newer colleagues and vendor partners as well as to meeting at least one new colleague.

Done! The photo seen here is a selfie of me and four colleagues at convention. We all come together to learn from one another, to share successes and the challenges of being an IT business owner. We can do and should do the same thing within Rotary here in District 5450.

Participation in several forms, education, personal and professional development in the world of Rotary are important. It’s important for you, your club, your district and the communities whether local or international that you service. We’re all in this together which means we should help, encourage and support one another, our Rotary colleagues.

In my 8 years of Rotary I have sought the support and mentorship of my fellow Rotarians within and outside my club in order to do the job at hand. If there’s an area (e.g. membership, foundation, RYLA, youth exchange) about which you want to learn more and leverage your passion, there are outlets for opportunities to learn more and be active in your club and district. Training outlets include District Assembly (just happened in May) Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI), annual seminars for a specific topic, and Rotary.org. I would’ve been an RLI graduate by now if I hadn’t had scheduling conflicts (like my sons’ football games). Seasoned Rotarians share that they learn a lot at RLI and they have been in Rotary for years if not decades.

Get active, reach out to others to learn and mentor someone or ask someone to be your mentor in Rotary and sign up for an educational session including the June 21st membership seminar. We’re all in this together and let’s make the most of it.

My team and I look forward to seeing several of you at our annual Membership Seminar on June 21st!

Go to www.Rotary5450.org to register now. And, we want to see at least 2 Rotarians per club regardless of the size of each club. Membership is too important – invest 4 hours and you’ll get a great return on that investment.
